New Beginnings - Paradise Robotics Ambrogio Robot History
Paradise Robotics was founded in 2006 with the idea that people will purchase home robots if they see them in action. Now stop and think a minute about what life was like in 2006 - there were no smart phones, no drones, no 3D printers, no electronic hobbyist movement, Facebook was for college kids, cell phones were for calling - the pictures they took were for postage stamps. Robots? Roomba® was on the market only a few years, it was a successful product then, but it was not like "everyone" had one. There were industrial robots, a few popular Wowwee® robot toys and that's about it. We knew going in it would not be easy...
Meanwhile, starting in 2000, Zucchetti Centro Sistemi, an Italian software company and manufacturer, and two rival companies, created robot mowers and became successful with them in Europe. By 2006, the robot mower market in Europe was maturing and "on the map". It sure seemed the same would happen here in the USA.

At the time, another party expressed interest in becoming the USA Importer/ Distributor, but the business deal did not come to fruition.
Knowing that the existing customer base would need support, we were not ready to throw in the towel ourselves. We solicited the assistance of Kyodo America. They proposed to Zucchetti that Paradise Robotics should become the interim importer/distributor in 2017, because we have extensive product knowledge. This was formalized by the following press release: Zucchetti/ Paradise Robotics Press Release. It was the first of two "New Beginnings" in recent years.
The second "New Beginning" came in May of 2018. Our interim activity had run its course and a new importer/distributor for the USA and Canada came to fruition, Max Distributing. Max Distributing has a 30 year history of importing Italian products and many connections in the lawn equipment industry. We began working with Max Distributing by taking on a new distributor role. We are responsible for a 4-state area of the upper Midwest, certain legacy dealers and support of existing LawnBott® customers throughout the US. See this map to view our four-state territory: Distributors of Max Distributing. Here is our dealer map:Paradise Robotics Dealers and online dealer application.
To-date, over 1 million units have been sold worldwide, primarily in Europe. More robot mowers are sold there now than traditional mowers. Zucchetti had to build a new factory to handle all of the demand. Looking back at what has happened in Europe, there is a lot of optimism that robot mowers will take off here, too.
The newest Ambrogio robots are quite spectacular. During our interactions as
L250i Elite Ambrogio Robot |
Ambrogio 4.0 Elite NEXT Robot |
Ambrogio 4.0 NEXT robots are the world's first robots in which the power system can be customized at the time of the sale. The battery and charging system are sold separately and are chosen when the robot is purchased. This enables the power system selection to be optimized at the time of purchase. The Ambrogio 4.0 NEXT robot also has a jointed mowing deck that avoids scalping uneven lawn areas. Ambrogio 4.0 NEXT is available as Basic with a simple user interface, or Elite with a touch screen, GPS, cellular connection and optional inductive charging.
NT60 Precision Buried Wire Layer |
Zucchetti not only has the best robot mowers in the world, the wire layer for installing them, the CLH NT60, designed and sold by Zucchetti, is also the best on the market. It has also been evaluated by several business owners who tried all wire layers available and determined NT60 is best. What makes the NT60 special? Its maneuverability, the "drill bit" cutter style and its durability, including a premium Honda® engine. The unique NT60 blade makes a very small groove while the wire is being layed, for minimum lawn damage.
NemH20 Robot Pool Cleaner |
And, Zucchetti has done it again, by developing the world's only robot pool cleaner without a wire connected to its body, the NemH20 robot pool cleaner. It uses inductive charging via a water-tight charging plate that stays in the pool. Customer feedback has been extremely positive about NemH20 because people are tired of their corded pool cleaning robots getting caught or tangled. Since the NemH20 robot stays in the pool, there is less interaction with it and no possibility of getting yourself wet by placing the robot in and taking it out of the pool, which is another frustrating part of the pool cleaning process.
When I contemplate how far technology has come since we started in 2006, I only get more excited about the future of home robots. The success of iRobot® vaccuums, drones with GoPros attached, and, soon-to-be-successful robot cars, proves that robots and autonomy are becoming much more accepted by Americans. With so many successful US technology companies, like Google, Facebook and others, it is hard to believe that other countries have surpassed us in the creation and adoption of these wonderful home robots, but that is indeed the case. Come on, America - what are you waiting for??
