Best Robot Mower Ambrogio, Advantage #4: Model Range

Ambrogio's model range is the most comprehensive of all robot mowers and is unsurpassed by major competitors. In 2019 there are three lines, nine styles and twenty-one models. Wow.
Pile of Ambrogio Robots
The number of robots in Ambrogio's range can feel overwhelming. This is understandable. How can consumers and businesses sort through such a huge pile of robots? Actually it is not as daunting as it seems.

First, when you choose Ambrogio, you can feel confident a robot will be available for just about any type of property: small, large, flat, steep slopes, tough grass, easy grass, etc., and, for a variety of target-markets: consumer, commercial, landscapers, rural farms.

Then, model selection is as easy as understanding Ambrogio's three lines and their key differences. Lawn specifications are often a driver (size, slope, narrow passageways, uneven ground, etc.). These property characteristics can force the use of one robot over another. However, not always.Sometimes it is consumer preference - that is, certain demographics want only the best, the biggest or the latest/newest model over having the optimal choice for a particular property.

Let's try to understand each line one at a time. First, the Green Line:

Ambrogio Robot Green Line

The Green Line targets consumers and consists of Ambrogio's lowest cost robots.

Ambrogio Robot Green Line

Except for L15 and L210, Green Line robots use motors with brushes (a type of motor that requires maintenance) but since they target small lawns, the brushes last 4-8 years before needing replacement. L15 is brand new so the manufacturer decided to use brushless motors since consumers favor them. L210 mows much larger properties so its motors are brushless.

Ambrogio Robot Pro Line

The Pro Line is for consumer and commercial properties.

Ambrogio Robot Pro Line
All Pro Line models have brushless motors. The models with the "i" designation (for "Innovation Inside") use GPS to assist the mowing algorithm which keeps grass growth statistics and ensures the most efficient travel routes to complete the lawn the fastest. "i" models also have a touch screen, ZCS Connect for remote operation over the internet and much more. L250i is unique in that it has patented self-leveling front wheels. The front wheels automatically conform to the ground which tilts the blade such that scalping is avoided on uneven terrain.

Ambrogio Robot NEXT Line

The NEXT Line is the newest platform and represents the manufacturer's next generation robots.
Ambrogio Robot NEXT Line

It is safe to assume that moving forward, new models will come to fruition for the NEXT line. One has already been announced, the NEXT 4.36 Elite. This robot is expected to be available by mid-2020.

In terms of features, all NEXT robots use brushless motors. All NEXT robots have "self-leveling" by the nature of their design: the body is jointed between the rear wheels and the deck. NEXT robots conform to the shape of the ground as they travel.

NEXT Basic robots are simple and easy to set-up while NEXT Elite robots have "Innovation Inside" just like the Pro Line "i" models. All NEXT robot batteries are installed externally which is unlike all other Ambrogio robots (and robots from all major brands). NEXT Basic can be purchased for three lawn sizes by choosing Light, Medium or Premium. Only the power system is different between the three models. NEXT Elite is available in Medium, Premium and Extra Premium. Extra Premium uses inductive charging to eliminate the charging contacts cleaning chore.

Ambrogio Robot Pro Line Commercial

Last but not least, there is the Pro Line L400i B and L400i Deluxe robots:

Ambrogio Robot Pro Line Commercial

L400i is intended to focus on commercial properties. The robot is very large in size, 4 feet by 3.2 feet. Since L400i B and Deluxe are "i" models, the features are the same as the other "Innovation Inside" models (touch screen, GPS, connect, etc.). L400i's rear wheels are unique and have been patented. For easy transportability, L400i comes with a wheeled cart.

L400i Elite deserves a mention. It is perimeter-wire free, it maintains 7 acres and it uses GPS technology to navigate in straight lines. This is the "holy grail" of robot mowing. It is useful in wide open spaces such as air fields and large sports fields. It is not available in the USA yet due to technology issues.

Consumers often realize that using multiple smaller robots is typically more suitable than L400i given intricate landscaping and tight spaces. For example, three L350i robots will maintain just over 5 acres.

Conclusion

Ambrogio's comprehensive range makes Ambrogio a "one-stop shop" for consumers and businesses alike. Consumers may choose to optimize cost or they can select the best of the best. Commercial landscapers who deploy robots on a variety of properties benefit from software that is shared between models (reduced staff training requirements) and the ability to optimize cost due to many shared components between models, such as by deploying a fleet of NEXT robots (less parts stock required). Competitors cannot keep up with Ambrogio's design innovations that are evident throughout the model range.
