Best Robot Mower Ambrogio, Advantage #6: Pet Safety

When it comes to pet safety, Ambrogio leaves competitors in the dust. What do competitors have for pet safety? Nothing, nada, zilch. Okay, I am not being totally fair. Every robot has bump or ultrasonic sensors. If a large dog is sleeping in the lawn, the robot will bump into into it or detect it, turn and go another way. The blade continues to run. What about a small dog or another small pet? Hopefully they are fast on their feet because if not, the result will not be very pretty.

Seriously, though, pets should not be allowed to go near the robot while it is mowing. Certain pets, such as a dog that already chases cars, will be more challenging to deal with. A dog like that should never be allowed near a robot that has its blade turned on.

Thankfully, even the worst car-chasing dog can be kept safe with Ambrogio robot's Amico accessory. For other dogs, or in cases where the accessory is undesirable, homeowners depend on Ambrogio robot's mowing efficiency.

First, let's discuss the Amico pet accessory. What is it? Amico is a Bluetooth-enabled collar your pet wears. When the pet comes near the robot, the blade stops and the robot turns away. Amico is paired and set-up quickly and easily with the Ambrogio app. Amico is available as an option for certain Ambrogio robots.

Now let's discuss how Ambrogio robot mowers' mowing efficiency is helpful for managing pets that need access to the yard. Each model has a "continuous cutting" time specified on the Ambrogio web site. Multiple cutting sessions are typically required per day to keep most lawns mowed to perfection. The times in between the mowing sessions are the times the robot spends charging. These are the times pets can be let in the yard.

The ability to manage pets' time in the yard is much easier with Ambrogio. Competitors are far less efficient because they come and go from the charging base much more often, typically mowing for only one hour per session. There is less contiguous running time and less contiguous charging time, too. Their robots waste a lot of time traveling back and forth from the base. Thus, it is difficult to predict when it is safe to let a pet go into the yard.

Ambrogio's flexible menus allow the user to set the only times the robot will be seen in the yard. Setting a single large window will be somewhat unpredictable as far as knowing when to let the dog out. But, alternatively, multiple working windows can be set - up to 4 working times can be set on models that have a touch screen and up to two working times can be set for small models that are programmed with the Ambrogio app. There must be enough time between two working times for the robot to charge fully. It is during the charging time that the pet can be let out.

Robots with a touch screen indicate when the robot is working in the yard vs. charging. It is as simple as looking at the app and letting "Fido" out. Ambrogio's lower-cost robots are a bit trickier to deal with. Ideally, the charging base is visible from a window so the homeowner can easily see that the robot has docked. If this is not the case, it is easy to get an idea of the robot's running and charging times via observation. The times will vary somewhat over the years as the lawn growth characteristics vary and as the battery ages, but, generally will be predictable. Most pets do well being let out on a schedule. It will be easy to help them adapt.

If your pet comes and goes as it desires via an automated pet door, then choose an Ambrogio model that supports Amico and purchase the Amico accessory. Your pet is far less likely to experience an injury and you will have much more piece of mind about your pet's safety.

Ambrogio is thoughtfully designed with pets in mind. Ambrogio is the only robot mower that offers a pet safety collar as an accessory that turns the blade off and redirects the robot when the pet is in the yard.

  1. You look out the window and see the robots charger but can you tell if the robot is in there being charged or is it hung up somewhere in the yard?
Here is a little trick I’ve used over the past 13 years….. yes I’ve owned one of these little rascals a long time. Take a fly swatter, cut the swat part off, duck tape the handle so It will show up. I use the shinny aluminum tape. Bend one of the wires of the handle 90 degrees from the other wire. Then tape the handle to the carrying bar of the robot, making sure the new handle sticks up.
When the bot is in the charger the fly swatter handle will be seen from the homes windows.
