New Ambrogio Robot Dealer: Voyager Automated Solutions Launches Demo Unit Near Airstrip

I am excited to announce the launch of our new Ambrogio Robot Mower dealer in Northern Illinois, Voyager Automated Solutions. Voyager is affiliated with Daybreaker Landscapes in Union, IL. Since Voyager launched from a high quality landscape company, we expect them to grow into one of our key dealers over time.

Last week, I worked with Jeff and Justin at Voyager to install an Ambrogio 4.0 Elite demo unit next to a private air strip. The installation went smoothly except for a few learning curve issues with our new DW45 buried wire layer due to the addition of a new feature that buries two adjacent wires up to and back from flowerbeds.

Here are Jeff and Justin getting ready to start the installation with the DW45:

DW45 Wire Layer being set-up for Ambrogio 4.0 Elite installation by two men in the Fall
To the right of the DW45 buried wire layer is the base for the 4.0 Elite. The first step of any buried wire installation is to align the machine at the back of the base. Generally, installations are done by starting at the back of the base, going clockwise around the yard and then going around each tree or flowerbed in the counter-clockwise direction. This methodology ensures that the wire never crosses itself while being installed. Of course, it is just as easy to start at the front of the base, go counter-clockwise around the yard and then go clockwise around the trees/beds.

This installation had quite a few trees with mulch beds that had to be wired-out. The DW45's feature to bury both lines in the trench between the tree and the perimeter saved a lot of time (well, actually, after coming-up the learning curve, it saved time!). The tricky part of using the DW45's double-wire laying feature is we found it necessary to tightly hold the wire while laying the double wire in the trench. This time, one person held the wire while the other walked the machine down the trench. That is not a good solution, though. I will invent a new way to hold the wire so it is not necessary to have two people installing. A one-foot-long stake with a handle will be the first idea I test.

Here is a short video that shows how to thread the DW45 machine. It's a lot like threading a sewing machine.

And here is another video that shows the DW45 placing the two wires next to each other.

While we were working on the installation, we were entertained by the homeowner's neighbor who was working on his 1930s airplane:

Finally, after making it around the entire yard and all of the trees, and solving an issue with the power outlet not putting out 120V, the robot started working!

The grass was very short already so it only had the chance to chop a few leaves after we upgraded from the 6-cutter razor blade ring to the star blade. Grass isn't growing much any more. As I look out the window right now, actually, there are a few flurries! It sure seems like the season ends sooner each year; last year I recall there was significant snowfall on Halloween. I am seriously hoping for a November warm-up!

We welcome Voyager Automated Solutions to the Paradise Robotics family. Find them on the Ambrogio Dealer Locater. While their new web pages are being built, ask for Jeff at Daybreaker Landscapes, (815) 596-0070.
